Expanding Access. Inspiring Creativity.

Music belongs to everyone.

MusicMAP is an independent nonprofit that expands access to meaningful music education and experiences for children and families in Lane County, regardless of financial circumstances.

OUR APPROACH

MusicMAP’s programs are built around three core commitments.

Mentorship

We connect young musicians with encouraging teachers and mentors who help them develop skills, confidence, and a lifelong relationship with music.

Access

We work to remove financial and practical barriers to music education through free programming today, while building toward scholarships, community partnerships, and reduced-cost opportunities as funding grows.

Performance

We believe making music with and for others is transformative. Our vision includes opportunities for young musicians to collaborate, perform, and experience the confidence and belonging that come from making music together.

Early Birds: Music From the Very Beginning

Early Birds brings free, hands-on music education to children ages 0–5 and their caregivers in Lane County.

Through singing, movement, rhythm, and exploration of real instruments, children experience music in a welcoming, playful environment designed especially for young learners.

Families participate at no cost, removing financial barriers during some of the most formative years of childhood while giving children and caregivers a place to learn, play, and connect through music.

Real Impact.

  • 1300+ free class meetings

  • Most morning classes reach our 12-child capacity

Creating Pathways to Music

A child’s access to music shouldn’t depend on a family’s ability to pay. MusicMAP works to remove the barriers that can keep children from participating.

The Barrier

Music education can be expensive.

Private lessons, instruments, ensemble fees, and performance opportunities can add up quickly. For many families, those costs make sustained music education difficult or simply out of reach.

Access can also depend on whether families know where to find welcoming, age-appropriate opportunities to make music and have a clear entry point into music education.

Cost • Access • Opportunity

Our Response

We’re building more accessible ways into music.

MusicMAP begins with Early Birds, offering free early-childhood music experiences and creating an entry point into music without a financial barrier.

As funding grows, our goal is to extend that pathway through scholarships, reduced-cost collaborative programs, mentorship, and performance opportunities—so more children have the chance to make music as they grow.

Free Programs • Scholarships • Partnerships

Early Birds is just the beginning.

We’re building a pathway into music that can grow with a child. With additional community support, MusicMAP plans to expand access to music education throughout childhood and adolescence.

OUR VISION FOR THE FUTURE

Programs below represent MusicMAP’s planned areas of expansion as funding becomes available.

Music Scholarships

Removing financial barriers to private and small-group music instruction for children and teens.

Collaborative Music

Expanding access to programs like Band Lab, where young musicians learn, create, and perform together.

Mentorship & Performance

Connecting developing musicians with experienced mentors and meaningful opportunities to learn, collaborate, and perform.

Voices of Our Community

“My baby attends the Music Exposure for Infants class with Teacher Chauncey and absolutely loves it. Each class is filled with joyful singing, movement, and hands-on instrument play that keeps the little ones excited and learning. It’s heartwarming to see my daughter light up, clap, and move to the rhythm. The environment is nurturing and fun, and we’ve seen real growth in her musical awareness.

“Great engaging classes for preschoolers! The instructor is very organized and pays attention to each kiddo. He does a very good job making everyone feel comfortable and respected. Even my extra energetic daughter stays focused the whole time! It’s very cool that she gets to touch some real instruments and plays along!”

Nikki L.

“We LOVE this place, the teachers and the outcome of our preschooler attending the music community classes. He talks about Chauncey all week and is playing chords with intention rhythms on the piano after a single introduction. Thank you for inspiring the magic of music in a young musician!”

Ashley J.

“This team is exceptional – Matthew is a great mix of musical education, connectivity with youth, and calm patience always paired with consistent forward momentum. The organization is impressive, whether with parent communication, clear weekly assignments, performance opportunities, or technology available for recitals. He is engaged with the community, promoting musical education beyond those who are actively engaged with the school. Highly recommend.”
